Skills for Successful Teachers, Administrators & Support Staff

We customize sessions for the educational sector. You may require an interactive workshop for your staff, a series of “Lunch & Learns” on site, or energizing programs for an administrator’s retreat. We’ll work with you to create a program that will ensure each member’s personal success.

Here are sample topics we have created for educators:

Using Personality Dimensions™

Working at today's hectic pace can be difficult. Using the power of each staff member's personality to make strategic decisions both in and out of the classroom may drastically improve team dynamics through better communication and relations. High functioning teams can ultimately create a successful school. This basic Personality Dimensions ™ workshop creates self-awareness and understanding of others.

In addition we suggest a customized application. As a co-author of a soon to be released session for future retirees, Kate is equipped to customize sessions to meet your team’s requirements.

Here are a few we have already created:

Teambuilding using Personality Dimensions ™

Is conflict in your staff room preventing some teachers from reaching their potential? They can learn to understand one another’s strengths, communication styles, and needs through Personaltiy Dimensions™ -- a powerful program that leads to less strife and more harmony.

Stressbusting using Personality Dimensions ™

Did you know that what causes your particular type anxiety may not cause another type much stress at all? Don’t worry, they have their own unique set of stressors! Once staff members identify their temperament and gain an understanding of the stressors for their type, then they can develop successful strategies that will help their frazzled nerves.

Creating Dynamic Learning Environments using Personality Dimensions ™

Are you aware that some teachers create a classroom environment they personally enjoy? The problem with that is since not all the students in their classroom share the teacher’s temperament type, they may not feel particularly comfortable in that classroom. This workshop explores ways teachers can create an atmosphere that will appeal to each and every student in their classroom. By understanding and appreciating the different temperaments teachers can apply it to the learning environment.

Developing Effective Instruction and Assessment using Personality Dimensions ™

Did you know that many teachers tell us that they instruct and assess students the way in which they would like to be instructed and assessed? This workshop encourages teachers to use their knowledge of personal effectiveness to design instruction and assessments in ways that will appeal to a broad spectrum of learners.

2 Young 2 Retire and Retirement Dimensions ™

Boomers are turning retirement upside down and approaching it creatively. Many of your staff members want to look at how they can create a life filled with opportunities in the next phase of their journey. Using Retirement Dimensions - an assessment tool based on Personality Dimensions designed specifically for Boomers - along with other materials, they can explore what's next.

Creating Healthier Workplaces

We offer customized sessions that help educators live healthier lives both in and out of the classroom. Together, during an initial consultation we can choose what would work best for your staff members and/or colleagues.

Here is a sample of sessions created for clients in the past:

Creating a Work/Life Balance

Did you know The Conference Board of Canada tells us that half of our nation's population struggles with balancing life? Did you also know it is the number one challenge of the century? For many of us family, work, and friends leave little time for ourselves. We wind up not enjoying or achieving what we'd like to at home or at work. In the end nobody wins - not you, not your colleagues, not your family. Staff will learn how to succeed at achieving a healthy work/life balance.

Managing Change/Transition

Have you heard the old adage that the one thing we can count on is change? Jean Daniel Duck tells us “change is immensely personal. For change to occur in any organization, each individual must think, feel, or do something different.” This session helps people embrace changes while at the same time maximize their performance on the job. It introduces educators to phases of change and their impact on the person. They then have opportunity to explore ways to successfully survive the constant changes.

Managing Stress

Did you know that many of the ailments that send workers to their doctors are stress related? This session leads educators to understand the symptoms that indicate stress. They then explore practical strategies they can use every day to alleviate some of the stress, which helps create resiliency so they can be more productive at school.

Managing Stress Prior to Winter Break

Does it seem like every year the stress prior to winter break seems to increase exponentially? Educators will explore ways to kick back and move from frazzled to festive this holiday season.

Retirement Readiness: 2 Young 2 Retire

Are some of your staff members and/or colleagues Boomers who want to retire “to” something? This session provides opportunity for them to explore a variety of opportunities they may want to explore once they leave the workplace. They will re-evaluate and set goals for their new life ahead.

Journal Writing

Do you want your staff members to be successful? Think of the people in very successful positions who keep a journal. Some use it for handling stress, getting through divorce, making career changes, creating a new life or just making sense of their life. This session provides lots of ideas to get people started on journal writing for success.

Facilitating Effectively

Meeting Facilitation

Have you ever walked out of a meeting and thought what a waste of time? This workshop teaches team members what to do before, during and after a meeting which they facilitate. Having a prepared agenda and follow-up minutes is only the beginning. Making sure the “conversation” leads to results is an art that can be learned by every member.
